Discover the World of Discount Living

Are you feeling the crunch of the economic downturn? Then, it is time to initiate yourself to the world of discount living. You’ll be surprised to know how much you can save with just a few discounts here and there.

Discount living takes practice. It can be challenging at first, but once you get the hang of it you’ll just enjoy reaping its rewards.  There are hundreds of ways to find discounts. Start with the following basic tricks and pretty soon you’ll be devising your own:

Discount Coupons
Coupons are practically everywhere. You can find coupons in newspapers and magazines, on websites, and even right there at the shop where you are shopping. A little time spent collecting coupons for your frequent purchases can mean extra savings for you. Before you make online purchases, take time to search for online coupons for your purchase.  If your online purchases amount to hundreds of dollars and there are no free online coupons available, check out websites selling discount coupons. A few bucks on these coupons can mean big discounts for your big purchases. However, you need to make sure that the coupons you are buying are recognized by the online retailer you are buying from.

Members Only Privileges
Loyalty cards are a great way to get discounts from your frequent purchases, whether from retail stores, airlines, or restaurants. These loyalty cards are indispensable in view of the fact that you will make the purchases anyway.  If a membership requires fees, you should first determine whether you’ll actually save any money. For example, when I was in the Philippines, I paid for a membership card at my local grocery. Since I knew I’d be shopping there weekly anyway, it was worth the purchase price.

Get Updated
Subscribe to email alerts and newsletters.  These are the perfect means to get updated on the discounts and promotions available for your planned purchases.

Ask For It
You don’t actually have to wait for a discount offer to get one. Today’s economic uncertainty prompts most consumers to hold tighter to their money; thus, retailers are more agreeable to giving discounts to close a sale. The worst case scenario is for them to say no, so it won’t cost you anything to ask.

If you have any other tricks for discount living, please be sure to share them. Live cheap and prosper.

  1. Great article. There’s a lot of good data here, though I did want to let you know something – I am running Fedora with the circulating beta of Firefox, and the look and feel of your blog is kind of flaky for me. I can read the articles, but the navigation doesn’t work so good.

  2. Thanks for the info. I’m running Fedora 11 and the navigation seems to work fine for me. I wonder if anyone else is having problems. Perhaps the problem could be caused by an add-on.
