Cheap International Destinations – Where You Can Enjoy Yourself for Less Money

Cheap living is all about spending less for the things you need. It’s easier to spend less if you just stay at home and do nothing, but what kind of life would that be? Everyone needs a vacation once in a while. So, when you feel like traveling, here are some cheap international destinations you should consider.

Before You Go

Before I provide the list of cheap countries, I’m going to give you some important things you should do prior to your trip:

  1. Ensure you have the proper documents and shots for your destination.
  2. When you plan your itinerary, be aware that even cheap countries have tourist traps.
  3. Ensure your safety by checking the State Department website for advisories. Some of these countries have areas you may want to avoid.
  4. Be aware that at many of these destinations you might get sick if you drink tap water.

Destinations

Here is the list of cheap international destinations. The countries are broken down by region. The average cost per vacation day (based on user surveys) ranges from $15 to $30. Some cities in these countries will have higher costs due to their size and current tourist traffic. So, choose your destinations within the country carefully.

Central America: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua

South America: Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay

Europe: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Macedonia, Romania, Ukraine

Africa: Egypt, Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Tunisia, South Africa, Zimbabwe

Asia: Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam

Middle East: Jordan, Turkey

One cost not included in the above calculations is airfare. The airfare cost can definitely have an affect on your total vacation cost. Trips to Asia, for example, can be rather pricey. Once you’ve decided where you’d like to go, you should check several travel websites and compare prices. Sometimes, one website may have a special that others don’t.

When it comes to finding accommodations at cheap international destinations, you have several options. You could just travel to the country and talk to locals to find out clean, reasonable places to stay. However, if you are someone who likes to have things planned out in advance, you can go here to reserve a hotel. Or, if you are feeling adventurous, check out a hostel.

This article was written to give you ideas for a low-cost vacation. If you decide to travel to one of these cheap international destinations, I’d love to hear about your experiences.
