Cheap Divorce – Don’t Let Divorce Separate You from Your Money

Divorce can be an unavoidable fact of life that many couples have to contend with. Essentially, it is already a stressful and painful process for both parties involved; it can even get worse if you let the costs of divorce get out of hand. Despite what you see on TV and what you read from the papers, this process does not have to be expensive. You can keep the costs to a minimum. Cheap divorce is possible.

Studies show that the average cost of divorce in the US ranges between $15,000 to $30,000 USD. However, this astronomical amount need not be spent in obtaining a divorce. Here are some of the ways you can cut costs and get a cheap divorce:

Don’t hire separate Attorneys if you don’t need to. Not all divorces involve a furious contest and vicious power struggle between the parties involved. If both parties are willing to settle amicably, you can even do a DIY divorce. Check out online sites dedicated to providing concerned individuals with valuable information on state specific divorce requirements, procedures, and forms. If there are differences that you cannot agree on and a third party is needed to arrive at a compromise, a mediator may be perfect for you. This way, you can divide the cost of a mediator between you and you won’t have to pay unnecessarily high attorney fees.

Communicate. Usually, costs pile up because of failed communication channels between the parties involved. Communication is crucial. Discuss the issues first between yourselves, then try and see if you can come up with an arrangement acceptable to both of you. This way, you will not have to go through expensive and unnecessary lengths to obtain a divorce.

Compute. More often than not, although cheap divorce can be had, the expenses get out of hand because what you have in mind may not exactly be reflective of what is in fact true in reality. If you think the arrangement offered to you pushes you to the losing end and therefore causes you to consider hiring a lawyer, calculate first. Be realistic on your expectations. Consider how much you think you are going to gain if you do hire a lawyer, how much will it cost, and how long will your contest drag in court or at the negotiation table. Finally, given all these factors, is it worth it? The answer may just change your mind and thus save you from unnecessary expenses.

Attorney’s will soak you off in fee’s! There are some lawyers that charge $400 A SESSION! There is a website out there that let’s you announce questions, and it allows attorney’s to bid on your legal topic… concept….it helps push back the cost of legal advice downward. Wonder if that would work on medical care?
